Plano Collin Nepalese Charter Night


Texas(America)- Plano Collin Nepalese Lions Club (PCNLC) organized its Charter Night celebration on January 19th, 2019 at Roma Palace. Emcee Lion Satish Gaire and Pragya Gautam Baral welcomed the honorable and distinguished guests along with all the attendees of the event as they inaugurated the grand celebration of the night.
 
The program began with the Call to Order, a standard practice of Lionism, by Guiding Lion Makar Bajracharya. Pledge of Allegiance, which was led by Guiding Lion Michelle Metzger, was immediately followed by the National Anthem sung by Leo Kritika Timilsina. The invocation was done by Fred Conger, GLT District Coordinator.
 
A few dances, both solo, and a group were performed by a team of youths comprised of Anu Kafle, Rubina Khanal, Ami Lamsal, Swikriti Paudyal, Kritika Panta, Sweta Gautam, Aanchal Shrestha, Vibhuti Panta,  Aabha KC, Aabash KC, Anupam Adhikari, Anshu Bhattarai, and Bishesh Manandhar. Lions Laxmi Oli Panta, Pragya Lamsal, Sarita KC, Sunita Gautam, and Rajina Paudyal volunteered to coordinate the cultural part of the celebration, which made the program special and vibrant. All the performers were awarded certificates of appreciation by District Governor (DG) Keith Murray. Following the distribution of certificates, DG Keith introduced MD2 Council Chair (CC), John Landrum.
 
Immediate Past International Director (IPID) Sam Lindsey, introduced by CC John Landrum, was the key speaker for the evening. He expressed his vast knowledge and experience about Lionism and its majestic goal of serving the community for a noble cause. That was a great speech to listen!
 
During the congratulatory remarks segment of the celebration, recently elected Texas House of Representative Honorable Terry Meza shared her own experience of being an active leader of the Lions Clubs and extended her best wishes to the newly chartered Plano Collin Nepalese Lions Club. Honorable Terry Meza further handed over two resolutions to Charter President Prakash Gautam and Vice President Dr. Badri Adhikari of PCNLC. The proclamation granted to PCNLC by Plano Mayor Honorable Harry LaRoisiliere and the Plano City Council was also read by Ramita Maharjan of PCNLC. 
 
 Among other speakers of congratulatory remarks were Charter Member of Dallas Everest Lions Club (DELC) and Past VP of NRNA Ram C Pokharel, President of Nepalese Society of Texas Suman Thapa, and Chairman of Nepalese Cultural and Spiritual Center Binaya Aryal. All of the speakers echoed the involvement of President  Prakash Gautam in the humanitarian services as they praised his leadership qualities and congratulated him on the establishment of this club. The speakers highlighted the importance of community service and how one finds happiness in serving the community. They also extended their best wishes to the newly chartered Club. Rashmi Gupta of PCNLC also read the best wishes note received to PCNLC from PID Sanjaya Khetan, who is currently in Argentina.
 
After warmly welcoming the new members to the fold of Lions Club International, DG Keith Murray inducted 59 Charter members and installed 13 Office bearers: President Prakash Gautam, VP 1 Dr. Badri Adhikari, VP 2 Rajeev Sharma, Secretary Binaya Paudyal, Treasurer Munesh Kandel, Service Chairperson (VP) Kamal KC, Club Administrator Dr. Rabindra Ghimire, LCIF Coordinator Laxmi Oli Panta, Marketing Communication Chairperson Aarati Regmi, Director Home Nath Pokhrel, Director Yubaraj Bishwakarma and Tail Twister Lalit Gupta. Lions Bikas Maharjan and Varsha Vetuwal will assist as the Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Communication Chairperson. DG Keith also handed over Charter Pins and Certificates to all the Charter Members. Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG) Henry White talked about Lionism and inspired all the attendees to serve the community for a better world; he further requested DG Keith Murray for Charter Presentation. DG Keith Murray handed over the Charter to President Prakash Gautam of PCNLC. In his brief speech, President Prakash Gautam expressed his gratitude and honor as he accepted the charter on behalf of his fellow Lions. On behalf of his club, he accepted the responsibilities to the club, the association, and most importantly to the community striving to help wherever there is a need following the club’s motto “We Serve”. President of the Sponsoring Lions Club, Dallas Everest Lions Club (DELC), Thala Raj Panta talked about DELC’s activities in the past sixteen years and presented Banner, Gong, and Gable to Charter President of PCNLC, Prakash Gautam.
 
The newly chartered Club officers expressed their sincere gratitude towards the dignitaries of the program by presenting them with Plaques of special honor and Nepali caps (topi) as a token of love. These were presented to IPID Sam Lindsey, CC John Landrum, DG Keith Murray, IPDG Henry White, and recently elected Texas State Representative Honorable Terry Meza. The program ended with the closing remarks by Kamal KC, Service Chair/VP of PCNLC and adjourned by President Prakash Gautam.
 
The club also organized a raffle which raised $510. Two winners Lion Ashok Sharma and Binita Sharma were awarded $150 and $100 respectively. The club announced that remaining $260 will be given to MD2 Leo Council for the use in the Leo Convention that will be held in Waxahachie in late May of 2019.
 
The dance floor was opened around 9:30 for the end part of the celebration. Overall it was a great charter night celebration.
